This coming Sunday, January 14, 2024 is the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon. The Cathedral has been working with the Marathon coordinators to ensure that access to the parking garage will be available on Sunday morning for worship services.
Here are a few key points to know:

Take I-45 to get downtown: No matter which way you normally approach downtown, the best way to get here on Sunday morning is to come via Interstate 45.

  • I-45 Southbound – Exit McKinney Street
  • I-45 Northbound – Exit Memorial/Houston St, follow the frontage road until it turns into Rusk
  • Once on McKinney or Rusk Street – turn Left (north bound) on Travis Street, then take a Right on Texas Ave.

Make sure to give yourself extra time to get downtown. Most road closures downtown should be cleared by 9:00 a.m. However, HPD can make decisions regarding traffic controls as they see fit.

The Marathon team has been working with Waze and Google Maps to communicate road closures. You can use these phone apps to help guide you through road closures throughout the weekend.

We want to wish luck and Godspeed to any of our Cathedral families and friends participating in the races this weekend!
