Theology Roundtable

theologyroundtable650_495

We hope that you will join Betty Adam, Alan Jackson and Kathy Pfister for the third year of Theology Roundtable. We plan to unpack a central concept in ecological theology: the interconnection of all things. We will focus on a basic principle in understanding how earth works - that all living things are deeply connected, and all life depends on the life of others. Our primary texts and conversation partners will be:

  • The former Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Katherine Schori and her book, The Heartbeat of God: Finding the Sacred in the Middle of Everything
  • Astronaut Edgar Mitchell and his book We are One: The Power of the Conscious Mind and Our Interconnection to All Things
  • Biblical scholar and theologian, Richard Bauckham and his book, The Bible and Ecology: Rediscovering the community of creation
  • And the work of Dr. James Doty, founder of The Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education and Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery, Stanford University
All participants are encouraged to order and purchase these books from the Cathedral Bookstore as proceeds from the Bookstore go to support the ministries of the Cathedral. Contact Lucy Chambers for more information, [email protected]christchurchcathedral.org

Each class will take place on Sunday evenings from 6:15-7:30 in the McGehee conference room, a zoom option is available for those who chose not to attend in person. Following the presentation and discussion, all who wish to do so are invited to stay for compassion-centered meditation exercises from 7:30-8 p.m.

Please note that our gathering on December 19 will not follow this pattern, but include our participation in The Sancocho Supper and Grand Posada, as we enact the practices of interconnection with our Latino Congregation and guest speaker John J McLaughlin.

Stewardship and Giving: Support Cathedral Ministries

Generously responding to God’s gifts is a reflection of spirituality and recognition that we are the stewards of his bounty. It is a way of life — something we do day in and day out.

There are many ways to make financial gifts to support the ministries, pastoral care, education, vitality, and growth of Christ Church Cathedral. We are grateful to donors who graciously make one-time gifts, annual pledges, ongoing planned giving, and who find other ways to offer their help forwarding the work of our ministries.

Learn more about how you can get involved and support the Cathedral, or offer your time as a volunteer.
