Hurricane Beryl Response
Dear Beloved Family in Christ,
We are now more than one week removed from Hurricane Beryl’s arrival in Houston. Blessedly, essential workers continue apace to do their level best and return power to home and businesses across our city. Prayers continue for all those in Houston and the surrounding area, including our own parishioners, who still find themselves without power or other precious commodities, such as water; we all share in the hope that as the week goes on our lives return closer and closer to pre-hurricane normal.
This past Sunday, July 14, offered us meaningful opportunity to gather as Cathedral family and offer our prayers of thanksgiving to God for seeing us through this storm. It was particularly moving given that so many came to church to worship and to serve one another while still not having power at home. The Spirit on our campus was one of generosity and made me especially proud to call this my spiritual home.
Yet there is still more to do, and I write today to share some plans with you about what to look for and forward to this week. Please read below the opportunities that clergy, staff and vestry are preparing, so that together we can tend to the needs of each other with care and generosity.
Blessings,
The Very Rev. Nathaniel Katz, Dean
Parish Wide Call-A-Thon

Donations to Support Disaster Response Efforts
Many across the City of Houston are experiencing great financial loss due to the electrical outages, fallen debris, and other circumstances caused by the storm. For those who wish to make a monetary donation to response efforts, you can do so in several ways:
- Make an online donation via this special form on our Cathedral website: www.christchurchcathedral.org/outreach
- Contribute with a check made out to the “Christ Church Cathedral Dean’s Discretionary Fund” with “Disaster Response” on the memo line. Every dollar will go to assist our parishioners and other Houstonians in need.
- Make a donation to the Diocese of Texas Disaster Fund, to help others in need within our diocese.
Immediate Ways to Volunteer
Several local organizations are greatly in need of volunteers to help with debris clean up, food distribution, and other response efforts. If your love language is using your hands, grab a friend and check out these options:
