Processing Unexpected Grief
September 18, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
Cathedral friends, we find ourselves in a time where our expectations did not pan out. Dean Thompson’s departure was unexpected. We have heard shock and sadness and surprise and well-wishes. We have heard the sighs of people who wished our “goodbye” could have been different.
We have so much to be grateful for and to look forward to at Christ Church Cathedral. But there is room for pausing with some holy listening to ourselves and to each other. We as a community have lost something that matters to us at the Cathedral with the Dean’s departure.
There are relational, spiritual, and organizational losses. These losses also come on the heels of the many personal and communal losses of a years-long pandemic, of living in places of uncertainty, of letting go of what we were sure would come to pass.
We invite you to participate in a time of processing, where we practice making space for gratitude and grief, turning to God with open hands and honest hearts in prayer, and finding comfort in the community. There are three options to attend.
Schedule:
Thursday, Sept. 15, 5:30-6:30 p.m. in McGehee Conference Room
Sunday, Sept. 18, after the Well 6-7:15 p.m. in Jeffers Conference Room
Monday Sept. 19, 6-7 p.m., Zoom – Register to attend via Zoom
