April 29, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Saturday, April 29, 4-6 p.m., Reynolds Hall

On the 100th Anniversary of Kahlil Gibran’s best-selling book The Prophet, Bishop Paul-Gordon Chandler will take the listener on a fascinating journey through the all-embracing spirituality of Kahlil Gibran, the early twentieth century Lebanese American poet, artist, and mystic. He explores how Kahlil Gibran, a supreme East-West figure, can be a much-needed guide in the midst of today’s global challenges, related to peace, harmony, the environment, and the building of bridges between diverse cultures and creeds.

This event is being co-hosted by Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, The American Lebanese Cultural Center, and Christ Church Cathedral. The event is free, but registration is required at: https://bit.ly/HoustonGibranEvent

In this presentation, Bishop Paul-Gordon Chandler, who has spent much of his life serving within the Islamic world, will present creative thinking in the area of Christian-Muslim relations, by exploring how these two major religions — which share much common heritage – can not only co-exist, but also enrich each other. In a world context where often the tensions between the Middle East and West run high, Bishop Chandler will advocate a practical way forward based on both the Muslim practices of faith and the teachings of Jesus, whom Muslims also love and respect.
