Cathedral Ordinand: María Teresa Bautista-Berrios
María Teresa Bautista-Berrios Ordained a Deacon on June 15, 2024
María Teresa Bautista-Berrios has been part of the Christ Church community since 2014 when her father, Reverend Canon Simón Bautista Betances joined the Cathedral staff.
Upon becoming a candidate for Holy Orders, Christ Church Cathedral proudly sponsored María Teresa on her journey to Virginia Theological Seminary. She graduated from VTS in May 2024.
Later this summer, María Teresa continues her ministry by joining Trinity Episcopal Church as their curate.
Joni us in support and celebration of María Teresa’s next steps in ministry:
María Teresa will deacon at the 11 a.m. service, and will preach at the 1 p.m. service this Sunday, June 16.
A celebration in honor of her ordination will be held following the 1:00 o’clock service in Reynolds Hall.
Parishioners are invited to make a donation to María Teresa’s discretionary fund.
To make a gift:
– Give online via the Cathedral’s online giving form. Select “specific donation” from the fund drop down menu. In the designated description box write “Bautista Berrios Discretionary Fund.”
– Make checks payable to Christ Church Cathedral, designating “Bautista Berrios Discretionary Fund” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed, dropped off at reception, or place in the offertory plate.
You are invited to view the Ordination Service on Saturday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral. The service will be livestreamed to both the website and Facebook.
