Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day 6
Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day Six
By Court Stephens
This trip is the first time I have been to Costa Rica, and from what I have done so far, it has been a wonderful experience in a stunning place. The weather is kind of hot and humid, but thankfully, we can cool off in the pool after a long day of working.
The flight over wasn’t bad, and I was able to sleep a bit. I particularly enjoyed the drive through the mountains, which had beautiful views that extended into the distance. I mostly sat and looked out the window to soak in all the sights.
The food here is different, but so far, it hasn’t disappointed me. The school serves lunch for everyone, and we have dinner at the hotel restaurant every night. I try to order something different each time to explore the menu. Currently, my favorite meal is probably the seafood fried rice from the restaurant.
We are leading a Hero Hotline VBS. The teenagers from our mission team are called sidekicks. The sidekicks work in small groups in pairs. My group consists of kids ages 10 and 11. I figured that they would be easy to control since I have an 11-year-old brother who is usually easy to be around. Boy, was I wrong. They have endless energy and are always entertaining to be with and watch.
The one thing that has impacted me most during this trip is working with all the kids in the VBS. Getting to know them has been a great experience and each and every one is unique in their own way. Hopefully I positively impacted their lives, their faith, and their appreciation for the Lord.
