Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day 11
Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day Eleven
By Aaliya Garza
Before the trip, I was anxious about leaving the country without my parents, even though I have always traveled with them when leaving the country. I was scared, but when I arrived in Costa Rica, it all changed.
Costa Rica is very beautiful. The people I met were amazing! They were very nice and welcoming, and I felt grateful to be there.
On our first day of VBS, I was kind of scared because I didn’t know anybody, but the kids were really nice, generous, excited, energetic, and happy. On the second day of VBS, I woke up homesick, and I started missing my parents a lot, but then when I began doing activities with the kids, their happiness became contagious. On the third day of VBS, I was kind of sad because it was our last day seeing the kids, and I was going to miss the kids that I had. They made my first mission trip experience a memorable one. I’m also thankful for the people on our team who helped me with my group of HEROES, like Jaylah and Isaac.
Towards the end of the trip, I was excited to come home but I was also sad to be leaving the team I had been with the whole week.
My favorite part was going on the catamaran to spend time with my team, which included Isaiah, Jaylah, Valerie, Zahara, Isaac, Court, Rene, and Yannis. I look forward to this trip next summer, and I am very thankful to the people who made it possible for me to attend it.
