Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day 10
Love Goes to Costa Rica – Day Ten
By Yannis Bautista
When I was first told about the Costa Rica mission trip I was skeptical about leaving home. It is a different environment than what I am accustomed to. I would be in a different country, experiencing a different lifestyle and culture outside of mine.
I came to Costa Rica before the rest of the group with my mom and Imelda. We were getting things situated for the VBS so that when the rest of the group arrived everything would be ready. During that time I was still adjusting and preparing myself for the week to come.
When the group arrived I was able to make my first impression of the people I would be around for the next couple of days. As I made my first impression of the group, I saw that they were all exhausted from a long traveling day. I wasn’t able to see who they were until we started working together in a team. As the days went on and I was able to interact with everyone and got to see more of their personalities and how interesting each of them are.
On the first day of VBS I was unsure on what to expect, but I knew that I was ready for whatever was next. Once the kids arrived my team and I prepared ourselves as we were about to take a huge responsibility in helping these kids learn stories of the Bible. After 4 days of working with the kids I was glad to say that the experience was difficult yet enjoyable.
Overall all aspects of this trip turned out to be way better than I expected. I am very grateful that I was given such an opportunity and hope that I will get a chance to do it all over again next year.
