Alzheimer & Dementia Support
Dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other forms of cognitive impairment are affecting more and more each day. Those afflicted need quality meaningful support that supports the whole person. Though many of us worry about our loved ones who have this, caregivers and family members are experiencing the collateral damage at alarming rates. The Cathedral is working to provide support to those who are living with or supporting loved ones. You do not have to be alone in this and there is support available.
Here are a few of the current options available:
Alzheimer’s Association Support Group
This group is open to all and meets monthly via Zoom. We have active members from multiple churches and have had people attend from as far away as Washington state. If you have siblings that don’t live in town this might be a great way for you to get support together. If you have a parent that is hesitant to attend a meeting maybe you could attend it with them.
Christ Church Cathedral is a supporting congregation of Amazing Place. They provide many forms of training, support, and resources. Savvy Caregiver class is one way to learn how to be a better caregiver for yourself and how to support your loved one. This class is currently offered via Zoom and you can visit here to find out more about it.
