Train to become an acolyte!
If you happen to be going into 7th grade all the way up to 12th grade, here’s your invitation to sign up to become one of the Cathedral’s Acolytes.
The Acolytes are the people in middle and high school who help us in church services all the time. Acolytes commit to serving once or twice a month, and on the big Holy Days and special services.
If you or your parents have questions about how it works and what it’s like serving, just call up any of the present Acolytes you know or email me – my info’s below.
If you want to get a feel for it if you’re still deciding — COME TO A TRAINING SESSION.
About Acolyte Training
There is a series of three training meetings to learn about acolyte stuff and practice what they do in services, so you know what you’re doing the first time you’re in a service.
The dates are:
Sunday Acolyte Trainings: Sundays August 18, August 25, and September 8, all from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
or
Saturday Acolyte Trainings: Saturdays August 24, September 7, September 14, all at noon until 1:15 p.m.
Yes, you can mix Sundays and Saturdays – just get in all three.
Call to let me know if you’re signing in – or just show up then.
If you need another time, call to set it up; we’ll probably have another series later in September.
Why we really want you to do this:
You get the chance to understand and experience worship in a whole new way. Most all the acolytes say they really prefer being up-front to just sitting out in a pew on Sundays.
It’s a chance for you yourself to serve God and to help the whole community. A gift you can give.
Really hope you decide to serve —
