Welcome to Christ Church Cathedral. We are glad to welcome you to this diverse and vibrant community of faith. Since 1839, we have been a witness to downtown Houston through worship, learning and loving service. We hope that you’ll find inspired preaching, teaching, and worship, and become part of our Cathedral community.
The Cathedral is open and affirming for people of all races, ages, socio-economic statuses, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Whoever you are, and whatever your story, you are welcome to know God and one another here.
We’re glad you’re here and we would love to hear from you. At the Cathedral, all are welcome. Please introduce yourself by filling out our virtual welcome card. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at 713-222-2593.
Generously responding to God’s gifts is a reflection of spirituality and recognition that we are the stewards of his bounty. It is a way of life — something we do day in and day out.
There are many ways to make financial gifts to support the ministries, pastoral care, education, vitality, and growth of Christ Church Cathedral. We are grateful to donors who graciously make one-time gifts, annual pledges, ongoing planned giving, and who find other ways to offer their help forwarding the work of our ministries.
We thank you for your patience as we undergo a website migration and platform transition. We’re hard at work to make your Cathedral web experience more user-friendly and easier to navigate when you visit. Please click the button for ‘Calendar events’ for upcoming events and services. Please excuse us as we are building a better infrastructure to support our spiritual home online. We hope to have all pages fully functional by Christmas. Thank you for all you do to support the Cathedral.
The city of Houston recently celebrated the return of our beloved rodeo. We donned our denim, buckled up our best belts and boots to match, and tipped our hats to King George, the carnival, and many a mutton-bustin’ kiddo. And while we’ve bid “Happy Trails” to the rodeo until next year, don’t hang your hat just yet — The Roundup is coming! This June join us for a few days of fun and formation on campus, as we start a new summer tradition.
The Roundup is an opportunity to circle our Cathedral wagons across generations to learn, love and celebrate with one another. During this year’s inaugural Roundup we are going back to the beginning! Cheryl Christie will be our guide as we “Walk Thru the Bible” in 5 lessons, learning the major events, geography and people in the Old Testament in a way that will make it finally stick and make sense. Cheryl, a Houstonian, is an engaging friend and speaker, and she’s excited about the Old Testament. “Kids” ages 5-105 will learn together in Reynolds Hall. We’ll provide childcare, and a “crawl/run” through the Bible will be provided. We’ve designed the program to include our whole Cathedral family. Young and old, singles and families, grandkids and grandparents alike — everyone will have a foot stomping good time at The Roundup.
And if Cheryl doesn’t promise enough fun (not possible), come for the community. We will kick off the weekend with a nacho bar sponsored by the Community Life Council. Famed father and son musicians Sam and Micah Hensley will lead music throughout the weekend, including a Friday evening Nightcap Concert in the Courtyard. Saturday boasts BBQ, Ice Cream Sundaes and a full day of programming for all generations.
The 2022 Roundup will be held June 17-19 at the Cathedral. It will be open to all ages and completely free, including dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday. Y’all come and join the fun. It just wouldn’t be the same without you.
