This year our annual May Fete celebration is May 2, and we are excited to get back to our traditions of crowning a May Fete king and queen, the Maypole dance, and cutting the ribbon. There will be light food and beverages, live music, crafts, and a cakewalk.
We will hold three services simultaneously at 10 a.m. - a service in Spanish in Sanders Hall, a Rite I service using the 1892 prayer book liturgy in the Cathedral, and a Rite II Bluegrass mass outside in Nancy’s Garden. The festivities will follow immediately after the services and go until about 12:30 p.m. And if you want to participate from home, Rev. Canon Becky Zartman will be hosting a May Fete Zoom hangout at 11 a.m.
In order to attend May Fete (the post-service festivities,) you must register for one of the three services taking place at 10 a.m.
Due to limited space available for social distancing, registration is required to attend all in-person worship services. This Sunday, May 2, we will have in-person worship at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Register via the links below:
10 a.m. Rite II Blue Grass Mass Outside in Nancy’s Garden (Please bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit for the service in Nancy’s Garden.)
For the cakewalk, you’re invited to bring a pre-packaged, store-bought dessert to give away as the cakewalk prizes. You can drop off these items when you check in on Sunday morning for your service at the check-in table.
Online worship services will be available at 10 a.m. in Spanish on La Iglesia Catedral de Cristo en Houston Facebook page, 11 a.m. in English on the Cathedral’s Facebook and Vimeo pages, as well as at 5 p.m. for the Well. The Well service will also have in-person registration available.
