From the Artist
Impressionism is the style that is most dear to my heart. I love investigating the sense of emotions that can be tapped with the use of color. Working in oils, capturing the play of light, tone, color, and atmosphere is key to linking the viewer to my art.
Most of my paintings in this exhibition called Light and Mood represent work completed during the pandemic. In this exhibition, I expressed my feelings about uncertain times while pulling from memories and photos. Indeed the world is going through transition and along with it, so does my art. In several pieces, you will see the use of a grid in an altered landscape. This shift of the traditional landscape represents how uncertain our environment is and questions how the pieces will come together. Possibilities are endless, but with hope, there is still a way forward into a beautiful future. Along with these paintings, you will find many Houston scenes and even one from outer space!
