Love Goes to Costa Rica Day Five
by Isaiah Umanzor
Coming back to Costa Rica has been an amazing experience once again as I’m making new relationships, and memories. At first I was nervous because I didn’t really know anybody, but over time I got to know those around me.
As we were arriving at the work site yesterday I realized the amount of progress we’ve accomplished and couldn’t wait to continue. The next step that we learned was plastering, where we scrape the plaster on the walls that were ready, which was a lot harder than I thought. Thankfully, Elizabeth was there to demonstrate it. We were divided into two groups which were drilling and plastering. Dolores was extremely helpful as she marked where I needed to drill and handed me the screws I needed. Whenever I needed help with drilling Nate and Jaylah were always there.
After we were done with our work for the day we headed back to the hotel. We had a lot more free time until we went to San Marcos. During our free time we mostly just relaxed and had some snacks from the restaurant. Once we arrived at San Marcos Paul had an activity for all of us to do. We were put into 4 groups where we had to create an advertisement on awareness of the Episcopal Church. I was put in group 4, which was the judges group. We had to create a detailed criteria organizing elements to see which poster was the best advertisement. It was nice to see how well our group was working together as we implemented our different ideas and thoughts. After the advertisement presentations we all came together to discuss the criteria, and came to a conclusion. We then ate pizza all together and ended the night with compline. After arriving back at the hotel we relaxed by the pool and went to bed.
