Love Goes to Costa Rica
As I sit in the bus on our way to Limón it’s hard not to think about how is it that God brought us here. Preparation for the Costa Rica Mission Trip began last fall. Which means it’s been a little over 9 months of praying, planning and discerning what God is calling us to do in Costa Rica.
As you may imagine, preparation means packing the Cathedral bag with t-shirts for the trip, home made prayer books/journals, supplies for our programming, first-aid kits, cameras and so much more. Preparing also means last minute email reminders and texts answering all the questions one could have. It also means consoling and reassuring those parents whose teenager’s first experience outside of this country is this, and thanking them for entrusting me with their babies. This is why the anticipation for this trip is exhilarating. It is why I am greatful for the great cloud of witnesses that make this trip a possibility.
Love goes has been our north star when preparing for this trip. It grounds us and reminds us of God’s commandment to love one another. Love goes. God goes. We in our brokenness and belovedness go.
But love goes does not only mean we spearhead construction projects. As you may remember, our purpose for love goes for us is to build relationships and connect Cathedral youth with Costa Rican youth who share the same faith even miles away. We are intentional in making space for connections to be made throughout our trip. This week we will have multiple gatherings where Cathedral youth will have the opportunity to gather fo fellowship
Travel with us this week as Love Goes to Costa Rica, and pray and read about the many ways God is in our midst! Pura Vida!
Prayers are requested as Minister for Youth Marcia Quintanilla leads Cathedral youth on a mission to Costa Rica June 18-26. Follow their journey and learn more through daily updates while they are away at: www.christchurchcathedral.org/costaricablog
