Love Goes to Costa Rica Day Seven
By Nathaniel Schuyler
My experiences in Costa Rica have been nothing short of incredible. I am extremely lucky and fortunate to have been able to go on this kind of trip with everyone.I saw God in many of the things we did. For example, when we helped build parts of a church or when we visited San Marcos high school where the people there were welcoming with open arms as if I was their own family.
I’m also happy I was able to make friends with the awesome people who came with me on this trip and I’m grateful for all that they have done for me.
Here’s a quick summary of all the things we did throughout the week:
From Monday to Wednesday we helped construct parts of the church at SanJosé Obrero. I helped by putting up drywall and screwing nails into them, using a drill.
Thursday, we visited San Marcos and watched the younger kids show us their costumes (Goku was my favorite! Call it personal bias!) along with the older kids who danced for us.
And, finally Friday we went to do a tour of snake museums and butterfly emporiums and saw a couple of sloths on the way back which needless to say drove everybody nuts.
Compared to everyone else on this trip, my situation is a little different than the others. Because I have family here, when we leave tomorrow I’ll be staying in Costa Rica with my godfather and will be staying for another year to visit family. Although I will miss everyone I’m glad that I got to come on this trip.
If I was asked to name my 3 favorite parts of the week it would have to be the birthday/dance party for Jaylah’s 15th birthday (happy birthday, Jaylah!) It was fun even though Zahara got her foot injured. Our visit to the beach today where the water was really clear, and I’m not forgetting our adventure to the waterfall.
I said it once and I’ll say it again: I’m extremely lucky to have come and I’ll miss y’all!
