Giving Faithfully to a Growing Community
The Well will return to in-person worship at 5 p.m. this Sunday, November 1. Drawing inspiration and music from the Celtic tradition, The Well focuses on prayer, silence, meditation, and grace. Seating is limited and registration is required.
As we reflect on why we financially support the Cathedral, we find joy in listing out some of the reasons why our family has regularly attended over the years:
- Winnie and I were married in the Cathedral 11 brief years ago.
- Our three children were baptized here.
- Claire, our oldest, requested to spend her 7th birthday by eating pancakes for dinner at the Fat Tuesday event.
- The nursery is a welcome respite at the end of the weekend with our children and their concomitant requests.
- Volunteering opportunities with the Children’s Ministry Council, Altar Guild, and The Beacon.
- Ultimately, the sense of community that we feel each time we cross San Jacinto and make our way onto the church grounds.
Without the financial support of the Cathedral’s parishioners, this brief list of reasons and memories would not be possible. We appreciate the support that parishioners provided to the Cathedral before we made our first pledge many years ago, and we wish to do the same for future generations as our community continues to grow. Our first pledge was based on an amount that we were both comfortable making and we have strived to increase it every two years. Based on this unscientific logic, we will increase our pledge for the 2021 calendar year and we hope that our fellow parishioners are able to do the same.
It goes without saying, but our weekends lacked a serious ingredient from March through October: filling a pew at the 9 a.m. service with our vociferous crew of little learners. We are overjoyed to return to the sanctuary and look forward to seeing each of you in the weeks to come.

The Every Member Canvass is our annual opportunity to pledge financial support to Christ Church Cathedral for the coming calendar year, a true investment in future mission and ministry. As we live in a time unlike any other, the need is great, and we hope that all will make their pledge through trust in God who casts out our fear, and out of the joy we know when we meet God in this place.
Ways to make your pledge:
- Pledging online is easy.
- Return the pledge card you received by mail to 1117 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002.
