EMC Reflection: Finnian Owsley
Good Morning,
When I was asked to speak today about how giving through the Every Member Canvass impacts me and the youth ministry, I was honored. Here at Christ Church Cathedral the youth ministry offers a vast array of opportunities and experiences that are both broad and accommodating, including Sunday school and Summer Shade. There are so many unique ways for us to grow our faith as we become full participants in the Church offered to us by Youth Ministry volunteers.
Across the EMC campaign, you have all heard from various parishioners about the opportunities available to adults. We as youth have similar opportunities. I spoke briefly about formation, but to truly live out our baptismal covenant -“seek and serve Christ in all persons” and “strive for justice and peace among all people” – Christ Church Cathedral offers the youth a chance to engage. We have the annual mission trip to Costa Rica, service days at The Beacon, helping with Christmas at the Cathedral, and participating in the Annual Giving Market.
I am so blessed by what Christ Church Cathedral has provided for me in my early life, and I am humbled to stand and speak to you on behalf of the youth Sunday. When you make a pledge of financial support to this year’s Every Member Canvass, you make an investment in the future formation, service, and fellowship for years to come. Thank you.
