Safeguarding

Safeguarding God’s Children

Safeguarding God’s Children (SGC) is a training program for the prevention of sexual abuse of children and youth. The program provides participants information they need to protect the children they know and care for in their personal lives and in the ministries in which they serve. If every adult can protect just one child, they will forever change one life. If we can all change one life, together we will make a difference in this generation of children.

SGC is required by the Diocese for each paid staff person, volunteer staff person of any church, school, or diocesan entity, and volunteers who work with children or youth.

Safeguarding God’s People

Safeguarding God’s People (SGP) is a training program for the prevention of sexual harassment of church workers and sexual exploitation in communities of faith. The training intends to help participants understand the overt and the subtle, the intentional and unintentional ways in which exploitation and harassment occur in church, school, and institutional settings. The aim of the training is to prevent exploitation and harassment by making everyone more aware of her/his words, actions, and intentions as we engage together in ministry.
