Nikki Blount grew up in Cary, N.C., and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a bachelor’s in English and public policy in 2009. Prior to joining the Cathedral staff, Nikki served as the preservation program coordinator for Habitat for Humanity in Jackson, Miss. She also worked for the Diocese of Texas as a crew chief at Texas Episcopal Disaster Relief in Galveston.

Nelda Horton joined the Cathedral staff in 1999 having much experience and expertise in church work. She moved up to become the Dean’s Assistant on March 1, 2000. She is a native Tennessean and attended schools there. After moving to Little Rock, Arkansas in the early seventies, she did volunteer work at her church and served as Special Events Coordinator before joining the staff as Executive Secretary. Upon relocating to Houston in 1988, she served as church secretary at her church for one and half years. Nelda has two grown children, Rhonda and Kevin, and three granddaughters and a grandson.

Judy Minshew joins the Cathedral staff from Brigid’s Place, where she was the Interim Executive Director for two years, and less recently from the Houston Chronicle, where she served for 12 years as editor of the Viewpoints column. As an lifelong music lover and musician, she sings alto in the Cathedral choir, plays guitar and keyboard in a five-piece folk/rock band (the “Blenders”), and teaches private piano lessons. Born in Dallas, she has two adult daughters and three grandchildren.

Nathan Nix’s responsibilities include the editing, layout, and production of Sunday service leaflets, as well as the weekly bulletin. He joins Christ Church Cathedral from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, where he worked in a similar capacity, writing content for and producing their newsletter and quarterly magazine. Nathan graduated from the University of Houston in 2004 with a degree in Print Journalism. He is a native Houstonian (growing up in Spring) who was raised in non-denominational churches and is now a member at Ecclesia Church in Montrose.

Ramona I. Sikes comes to Christ Church Cathedral as a Senior Accountant from First Methodist Houston. Born in Key West Florida, Ramona grew up a “Navy brat.” She graduated both high school and college with highest honors. While at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Alabama, she obtained a distinction as the “most outstanding student in the Fine Arts Department.” Our multi-talented new hire has found her life mission to serve Christ both personally and professionally. She has recorded two CDs, Only By Grace and Faithful Friend. She currently resides in Crosby with her husband Tony. When she isn’t caring for stray animals, she finds herself spending time with friends and family.

Lauren currently lives in Richmond. She is a junior in college and wants to be a chaplain at a children’s hospital. She worked at Camp Allen as a senior staffer last summer and is excited about the opportunity to work with the youth at the Cathedral.
