“Acolyte” is the Greek word meaning “to stand-by, to serve.” The Acolytes in the Cathedral parish are youth in middle and upper school, normally beginning in seventh grade. They serve in all the principal services Sundays and Holy Days, responsible for assisting the clergy in preparing the altar at Eucharists, and in managing processions, incense, and other ceremonies in the Liturgy. Serving as an Acolyte brings an insider’s appreciation of the Liturgy and a sense of being responsible for what goes on in services.

Acolytes are trained in small groups at mutual convenience, and commit to serving every third or fourth Sunday and as needed otherwise. Contact Canon Ed Stein with questions or to arrange training.
